Here are some "in-process" images of a project that we have been working on. This hardware has been forged from Monel in order to re-create an early 20th century style gate on a historic estate in Locust Valley, NY. Monel is an alloy of 65% Nickel and 35% copper. It was very popular prior to the great depression and the wide spread adoption of stainless steel. Monel is very tough and requires planing and skill to work. One of the most exciting and challenging projects that we have worked on to date. If one has any doubt about the toughness of nickel, remember the earth's core contains a high percentage of it. It is also used extensively in armor plate and military grade projectiles. Please keep an eye out for an upcoming case study on this entire project.
