Located on Main Street in Patchogue NY, the Lakeview Cemetery has stood within the community for over a century. Our company was approached by the Greater Patchogue Foundation's Cemetery Restoration Committee with the request to re-create the original entry gates and archway. We were provided with only a photocopy of a blurred photograph showing the original ironwork; this would be our only source of reference to work from. To make an arch of this scale, our team built its frame using heavy flat bar. The most significant design element in the project, was the late Victorian style scroll-work seen within the entry gates and arch. There were also hand forged latches, finials, hinges, and cane bolts all made in house by our smiths. The numbers and letters on the archway sign were gilded with genuine 23k German gold-leaf to keep its luster when exposed to the elements. The result was a beautiful re-creation of this historic project.
